Exciting Update on the Development of the CI Public and Affordable Housing Policy & 10-year Strategic Plan! Our team of consultants, Public Works LLC, has been working tirelessly to draft our country’s first housing policy and strategic plan, which aims to address the housing needs and concerns of all residents.

Since November 2023, the consultants have been meeting with the community to gather your valuable input. Here’s what’s been done:

  • Website created to provide information on the policy and plan and allow persons to provide comments and participate in the survey.

  • Held numerous stakeholder meetings and focus groups.

  • Sister Islands town hall meeting January 30th.

  • A virtual town hall meeting was held on February 1st.
Public survey launched on March 18th – ended April 19th.

The Public Works LLC consulting team is working on completing the draft policy and plan, taking your feedback into consideration. Once this has been done, it will be presented to Cabinet for their review followed by a public presentation of the final policy and plan.

Whether you attended or participated in a meeting, focus group, town hall meeting or the survey, thank you!!! Your feedback has been instrumental, and we’re eager to continue working together to create a community where everyone can thrive.

Through this policy and strategic plan, The Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing, Infrastructure, Transport & Development (PAHITD) is looking for innovative ways from the public to alleviate housing and sheltering challenges that our most vulnerable residents face.  Our goal is to decrease the gap between Cayman Islands residents and their ability to purchase affordable homes while preserving and protecting our unique culture.

Public Works LLC, a public policy consulting firm, will assist PAHITD in developing the policy and strategic plan while reaching out to the public & private sectors, NGOs and Caymanian residents to gain input, ideas & collaboration on the plan. The firm has conducted hundreds of such projects over 30 years across the United States & the Caribbean. They are widely known for their innovative stakeholder engagement and research.
